Heretic

– as with many of these kinds of horror movies, they begin promising, with skin crawling suspense and smart pacing, then at a certain point, the villain has to do the bad thing, and it all becomes far too silly to take seriously. With such a constrained cast as this, even Hugh Grant – a smart casting choice for this character – begins to grate, and by the time he goes full blown lunatic, the obscure novelty of the whole thing has worn off, along with its value as entertainment.
